Promotion or salary hike
It is traditional and highly effective technique used by companies to retain their high potential employees. If any high potential employees can leave or wants to leave company because of getting high salary or better post in another company then company uses this way to retain them.
Training and development
If any high potential employ is in the growing stage
and he/she may leave the company for further trainings, studies, etc., So in
this case company tries to full fill their wish but for staying in a safer line
they also make contract with them about their working period like 3 or 5 year
and they also get full salary.
Giving them company's Assets
Some company’s assets which company gives to their high potential employees to retain them in the company
- Giving them car for faster travelling
- Giving them house/apartment near office to save time.
- Giving them servant/driver
- Giving them free foreign trip with their family.
- Giving their children scholarships.
- Giving them some shares of the company.
In some cases after some time money will not be anymore motivation for high potential employees, so companies do these practices
Giving them award
Giving award to them in front of whole company in some
ceremony/event etc. Shows the respect which company want to show about him. Now
a days thank you! Notes, social recognition program taken place.
Represent them as the face of the company
In some cases high potential employees were sent to do
seminars, events, meeting on behalf of their company. They get chance to
represent them as company. Now using social media networks company try to make
them the face of the company.
Involve them in decision making process
Involving high potential employees in decision making
process gives them the felling of ownership. And if they feel that their opinions and thoughts are being
listened they also by their own will not want to leave company.
Making them mentor
After being senior some high potential employees have
not much work to do, so now some of them wants to teach/tell their experiences
because of that some of them also leave their job. Some companies use this as an opportunity because high
potential employees’ wish to teach is also fulfilled because of that they were
asked to mentor new high potential employees. And those new employees get
special training.
Conducting exit interviews
Companies conduct exit interview so that they get to
know the exact reason why these employees want to leave the company and for the
case of high potential employ they try their best to resolve at any extend.
Actually they try to full fill all the wish which high potential employees
have. And if any high potential employees wants are fulfilled so they do not
leave the company.
